Farmers can be romantic too!

And there I always thought my man was not romantic at all! He baked this Venison pie for me last night. Ag moeder ma! (Sorry, just had to share this)

No Make-up

A woman should never feel bad about her looks. A lot of times we compare ourselves with Hollywood stars and wish that we also had their looks. Ladies, take a look below and love yourself from now on.

WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL!

Even Angelina does not look that hot without make-up.

Working from home

October 2009 saw me packing up all my belongings and leaving my "city" apartment for the farm. Not only that, my office and desk moved with me. Now, I know a lot of people dream about working from home. Slowly getting used to it, but still yearning for that office vibe and colleagues around me. I even miss the office chatterbox! Trust me it's not that easy...Still deciding whether I like it or not.

Advantages:
- The view from my office.
- No office politics, unless I feel like fighting with myself!
- Can't think of any other advantages....

Disadvantages:
- You can't go home when you're feeling sick, can you?
- The kitchen is 10 metres away: Gained about 5kg since November!!
- No lunch hour if you are working on your own and my bed is just down the passage way...
- The farmer sleeps every afternoon for one hour and I have to bare with that.
The view from my office.
Would you like to work from home?

Friday giggles

A blonde from Pretoria is sitting in the bar with two guys beside her.

The first guy says to the barman, "Johnnie Walker, single."

And the second blurts, "Jack Daniels, single."

At that, the bartender approaches the lady and asks, "And you ma'am?"

She answers:

"Katryn van der Merwe, divorced."

Suid Afrika - jou lekker ding

Every time I see photo's like these, I am thankful for the beautiful country we live in. The overseas Soccor fans must be having a ball. (Excuse the pun) Most of us want to see Mauritius, Greece, Europe and the Far East. Why not start in our own country?

From Cape Town to Worcester, Hermanus and Kimberley. Knysna to Port Elizabeth. The Wild Coast. Durban to Johannesburg. The Kruger Park to God's Window. Pilgrim's Rest. Pilanesburg and Sun City. And don't forget the West Coast. Langebaan, Paternoster and Saldanha. Ceres. And on it goes.

The World is in South Africa. Enjoy it.

'n Mall - 'n Regte egte Mall

Tyger Valley Shopping Centre used to be 5 minutes drive from my apartment. And I kid you not, while I lived in Cape Town, shopping malls where a no-no on my list! They were only frequented if the hair had to be done, for gift shopping and for the odd McDonald's burger.

Okay, okay here's a OK727 and a pizzeria as well. Ai, hoe verlang ek vandag na 'n regtige egte mall!

So I decided, coming Saturday the Corsa bakkie and I will be driving the 160km to George and it's Garden Route Mall. There's a Woolworths, Edgars, Truworths, Jeep Clothing, Sunglass Hut and and and.... a surf shop!

Oh, I forgot there's a hairdresser too. Maybe I should book a perm and a highlight as well. Ok, joking about the perm!(Heidelberg is not big on hairdressers.) Woolies get ready for me. I want cupcakes, chicken snitchels, Nachos, Millionaire shortcake and everything else you have there!

My kredietkaart gaan verjaar!

I still love the farm life, just yearning for the finer things in life now and then!

H
PS. (Shit, I'll have to wash the Corsa. It used to be black)
PPS. Forgot about the farmer... He wants a farlooker. Hahaha.

Reading now

Reading has been a hobby since I can remember. According to my mother, I started with the Huisgenoot and Reader's Digest. In all honesty, I will be lost without a book next to my bed.

This book, timed perfectly for the FIFA World Cup is my current read.
More than just a Game. Football v Apartheid.

It's a true story about how a group of political prisoners on Robben Island defied all odds to play organized football while South Africa at that time was banned from FIFA games. (Sepp Blatter wrote the preface.)

Looks like it's going to be an interesting one. (Reading only non-fiction at the moment)

Let me know what your favourite books are!

Hier is my 10 redes hoekom ek mal is oor die lewe:

1. Ek LEWE!
2. Ek kan lief wees.
3. Iemand het my lief en ook liefgehad.
4. Ek is gesond.
8. Ek het vriende wat omgee.
9. Ek glo.
10. Ek LEWE!!!

Feeling much better about being a 30+ woman

I came across this "inspiring" piece of writing and just had to share with the ladies...Good to know that ALL men do not want 21 year-olds. The writer forgot one thing though... Experience.

As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all.

Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask,
"What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit
around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's
usually something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is,
what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 30
give a damn about what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you
at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if
you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can
get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what
it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women
friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best
friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 30
couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows
her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a
woman over 30. They Always Know.

A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true
of younger women.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier than
her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you
are a Jerk if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder
where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately,
it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman
of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of
himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when
you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for you.

Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize
it's not
worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.

I am a travel agent

Understanding my job.

I AM A TRAVEL AGENT!!

I am a travel agent....I have advance degrees in accounting, public relations, marketing, business building, computer science, civil engineering, and Swahili.

I am a travel agent....Of course I remember the reservation you booked six years ago, even though you don't have a confirmation number and you think it was made under a last name that begins with a T.

I am a travel agent....It' s no problem for me to give you seven connecting non-smoking poolside suites with 2 king beds and 4 rollaways in each, and yes, it is my fault that the hotel does not have a helicopter pad.

I am a travel agent....I speak all languages and have visited Every destination.

I am a travel agent....It' s obvious to me when you book your reservation for Friday, you really mean Saturday.

I am a travel agent....I understand that Joe Blow Ltd. is a vast empire and will make or break my agency.

I am a travel agent....Yes, I am lying when I say there are no seats left at the lowest price during SWC, Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I am a travel agent....I am capable of checking fares for three people, taking five reservations and answering fifteen calls simultaneously.

I am a travel agent....I always know where to find the best vegetarian, kosher, and Mongolian barbecue restaurants.

I am a travel agent....I know exactly what to do in all cities without spending money.

I am a travel agent....I take responsibility for airline food, traffic jams, rental car flat tires, weather, hotel locations, and the national economy.I am a travel agent....Of course I can fit you into the hotel at the special corporate rate because you are affiliated with the Blackburn North Lawn Bowling club.

I am a travel agent... I am never offended when I spend 10 hours researching a 12 day Europe itinerary only to hear you say you "I booked it myself over the internet and saved R30 !!!" I also never gloat when you call back to say the rate was sold out or that you are stuck in the middle of nowhere since they cancelled your flight and you cannot "call" your internet provider to be protected on another flight.

I am a travel agent... I love when people walk up to me at parties and out of the blue expect me to know the latest airlines fares from Melbourne to Ibiza via Byron Bay, the Maldives and Nairobi "off the top of my head".

I am a travel agent...Don' t bother telling me any dates or cities since I am a mind reader and already have the reservation in my crystal ball before you can tell me.I smile, empathize, sympathize, console, cajole, up-sell, down-sell, cross-sell, perform, sing, dance, make coffee and fix the printer.............

I AM A TRAVEL AGENT!!!

10 things men want

If you are anything like me, you also sometimes wonder what goes on in a man's mind. WHAT DOES HE WANT?

Did some research and I found 10 things that may help you in understanding him better:

1. Believe in His Capabilities Many men believe it is important for them to protect and provide for those they love. Let him know that you believe in his talents and skills and are supportive of him. (You can provide me all you want honey!)
2. Understanding One of the ways you can both tell and show your husband/boyfriend that you want to understand him is by making a commitment to daily dialogue with him. Daily dialogue only takes 20 minutes out of your day. Isn't your husband/boyfriend worth 20 minutes each day?
3. Affirmation of His Accomplishments Most guys like to be patted on the back. Compliment your husband/boyfriend often. Just don't over do it with sicky sweet oozes of how great he is. That type of affirmation will backfire. (Can we say:"Whoop whoop! Well done cowboy?")
4. Acceptance Many husbands/boyfriends are hurt and angered when their wives/girlfriends try to change them. Realize that the only person that you can change is yourself. (Luckily I HATE change)
5. Less Chatter If your husband/boyfriend is tired, or involved with a project, and you really want to talk to him about something, get to the point. If he wants the details of the topic, he will ask for them. (This might pose a problem! Women love talking.)
6. Affection Hold your husband's/boyfriend's hand in public, leave a message of love on his voice mail, massage his shoulders, give him an unexpected kiss. Men like to be romanced too! (My man does not DO public very well!)
7. Respect Show respect for your husband/boyfriend by not making negative comments about his thoughts and opinions, by being considerate of his plans, and by avoiding the "eye roll" when listening to him.
8. Free Time Most everyone has a desire for some quiet time alone, and time to re-energize, regroup, and reconnect. When your husband/boyfriend first gets home from work, allow him some free time to unwind. Don't over-schedule his days off with projects around the house. (Great, I like my free time as well!)
9. Trust Trust is vital in the success of a marriage. If you are having doubts about your husband/boyfriend and find it difficult to trust him, seek counseling and not spying. (Hmmm I still need to work on this one)
10. To Be a Companion Hopefully, you can say that your husband/boyfriend is not only your lover, but also your friend. Staying friends and companions through the years requires that you find ways to make time together and to do things together.

Use/Don't use.
Have a great one.

LYING CHEATING BASTARDS

Today's topic lies so close to my heart that I need to write it in my "home tale".

Lekker man. My fok man.

- Publisiteit?
- Sensasie?
- of jy net plain jaggalas?

Jammer! Bill, Tiger, Joost, Andries, Jesse James en Jan Alleman, ek kry jou GLAD NIE JAMMER NIE. In fact, as jy my man was, was daar GEEN manier wat ek by jou sal staan nie. Ek sal begin soek vir 'n goedkoop hitman of vir Louisa Chatburn 'n luitjie gee.

HOLLYWOOD-KISS KISS-RING MISMATCH

Seems like same sex kissing is still the IN THING amongst the stars. Don't know if I agree with that... Would much rather kiss George Clooney on stage in front of a billion viewers!

Something bothered me though:
Don't you think Scarlett would have looked FAB with Sandra's ring?

Also have a look at Ms Brazen's Blog about her thoughts on Scarlett's dress:

DAVID BECKHAM IS SO HERE

Okay, I know I am a bit slow, been busy!

If this does not get your (Football) fever to hit the roof, you may as well stay in bed. Man, is this man hot or what? Sorry Ronaldo and the rest, but this guy just does it for me. Normally a blond man won't have me look twice but apart from Brad Pitt, David must be the only blondy cool enough for my little black book of sexiest men. "Sigh" Wonder were Posh is?

HERE COMES THE BRIDE-PART 2-CLUELESS

Okay, so in the first post about my "upcoming" wedding I mentioned the venue. My next problem is WHO TO INVITE.

Please help me, for I am clueless.
1. Do I invite grandma's 90 year old sister, last seen when I was about 6 years old?
2. Do I invite YOU because you invited me to your wedding?(If this is custom I have a BIG problem!)
3. Do I invite my second second cousin because I am inviting his mother?
4. Children? Is it my problem?
5. Do I REALLY HAVE to invite all the uncles and aunts?
6. Is this like a FAMILY REUNION or what? (My mother thinks this is a good idea...)
7. Is it a good idea to invite your ex-boyfriend? (He is my boss)
8. What to do with colleagues?
9. Must I invite people I don't like? (Examples include, no never mind. Just now she reads this blog!)
10. Does the fiance have a say in all of this?
Any and all suggestions will be welcome!
The clueless bride 2 B.

WORLD CUP FEAST

There is no need to dread the World Cup.

While our partners will be talking about the games, statistics of the sport and other technical stuff, we will get to admire the most sexiest men in the world chasing a ball and exposing their toned chests.

Here is my selection of the two hottest soccer players. Let the games begin!

David Beckham:

Even though he will not be playing. I can't wait to spot
him and his family in the crowds.

Fabio Cannavaro:
