Gear Linkage what?

For the past few weeks I have been driving a Corsa Utility which has a gear linkage thingy problem. The farmer knows exactly what the problem is, but believe me, I am no mechanic and still have no idea.

What happens? As soon as I change gears to third, something pops out and I cannot get any other gear than THIRD! You then have to stop, pop the bonnet and burn yourself while trying to "click" the thing back into position. So about a week ago, on our way to Witsand, the farmer, bless him, fixed it with one of my hair elastics! Since then the linkage thingy has not popped out, but it must be fixed "properly", not?

Any case, after three phone calls to GM, at last uncle K understood what I meant by black plastic "thingy". And unfortunately you cannot buy that thingy on its own. Yes, of course you can't. What was I thinking? You have to buy the whole gear-linkage-gearshift-lever-knob thingy for R 1260,76 excluding labour of R400.

A friend, that works for ..., advised this morning, that he has fixed many a gear linkage problem with a cable tie and that those vehicles are still fixed after 10 years! Guess who's off to town to buy a packet of cable ties? (Do cable ties even come in a packet?)

ALL I need is that black plastic stick thingy!!!

Let it shine... joe4shine

You can ask anyone who knows me if I am a jewellery lover and they will say no way. I wear my engagement ring and that's it! Watches, earrings and necklaces are for special occasions only. That is until I spotted a ring on friend EloiseD's finger. Loved it, and when she phoned two days before my birthday to say she can get me one from Joe4Shine, the farmer had to cough up.

The ring is a Mystic Topaz stone set in a Sterling Silver ring. Exquisite. Now to convince the farmer that I need the earrings to complete the set!

A Postcard from South Korea via the Philippines

Gone are the days when you open your post box and smile when you find a letter from Grandma or a postcard from a friend in Bloemfontein. Nowadays all that that ends up in my post box are bills and crappy flyers.

The below postcard was waiting for me between all the bills and flyers. Made my day! Thank you Che from Indie Berries for taking the time to send this and putting a huge smile on my face!

Long weekend

What a weekend!

My birthday started on Thursday when the farmer could not wait to give me his gift. We have been drinking filter coffee and it is now running out of our ears.

On Friday, my parents, aunt and brother's son arrived. Received more gifts. Perfect birthday! On Saturday the farmer took us all for breakfast after my brother arrived.

He is so cute! My brother's son.

Our two bitches started fighting. The farmer grabbed the one, and as I tried to grab the other one, she bit ME instead of the other bitch! Finger is okay now. 

To end off a lovely weekend, we had sundowners on the hill overlooking the farm house.

Yesterday...

... Katryn, one of our Boerboels was hit by a car/truck/tractor. We have no idea how and where it happened. She is okay, but very stiff and has some nasty cuts on the inside of her leg. I still have no idea if there was any internal injuries, as the farmer, who thinks he's a qualified vet, is sure that she'll be okay. WFE.

The person responsible is missing in action. Did not even have the decency to come and tell us about the accident. People like that make me sick.

Once again sorry about the lack of posts, but March madness is still hanging around my office. It is so busy, I am making mistakes that are not my mistakes. Doesn't make sence hey. Any case, hope your week is better than mine!

In other news: My parents are coming to visit this weekend, it's my birthday and I am off on Friday. Cannot wait.

Note: This is a cow skull and NOT a dinosaur's. Don't want the archaeological departments of all SA's Universities descending on the farm!

Update: Veg garden

Before you say: "WOW", take note of the following:

1. The farmer has no patience.
2. Most of my seeds that came up died. Not my fault though, the crickets ate them! (Except for the mealies and carrots)
3. The farmer drove to Riversdale and bought the tomato and lettuce plants!

Today...

... is the start of what travel agents call "March madness" *have mercy*
... I want my mommy *sniff*
... the past weekend caught up with me. Braai on Saturday and almost-mother-in-law's birthday on Sunday *enough with the birthdays already*
... I feel like getting back into bed with the below eye mask on my face!

Back to the keyboard and booking dream holidays...
