The last two weeks have truly been a blessing. Lady Luck must like me in some weird way!

By now most of you know that I live on a farm, 6km out of Heidelberg in the Western Cape. Let's recap:
Shops in Heidelberg: Spar, PEP stores, OK 727, Wimpy, 1 boutique I do not want to know the name of, a Co-op, an art gallery and Heidelberg Sport. Now I must tell you this story: When Heidelberg Sport opened I was on cloud 9. Yay, we are getting a surf shop. So I went there and asked the lady owner if it's possible to stock some Roxy t-shirts. She got this blank look on her face and mumbled something about trial and error. She has yet to see my face again. Apparently we are getting a Mr. Price soon and if this is true it will be the highlight of the year.
No Woolworths, Foshini, Edgars, jewellery stores, surf shops. No nothing. That is why I love reading what fellow bloggers bought and what they are wearing. I make notes and when I am in Cape Town, I go beserk in the shops!

HOW TO BE A SEXY SUMMER BRONZE GODDESS

Summer is here and most women want to look bronzy and tanned. Now getting the body all bronzed up is easy, but trying to get your face all bronzed up can turn out hazardous...

I have therefore asked my BFF, fellow blogger and best make-up artist in the world,

Eloise Hair & Make Up 

to tell us how to bronzify!

(I have been a guinea pig  many times and trust me, she works wonders!)

Eloise says:

Bronzing powders and compacts are often used to 'tan' cheeks and to take the place of blusher. Although there is nothing wrong with that technique, bronzers were originally (and are now again) used to mimic the coloration one gets from being suntanned! Look at where the sun will color your face: apples of cheeks, temples, bridge of nose, and highest point of the chin (although very lightly in the last mentioned). Copy this by using a big powder brush and sweeping bronzing powder along these areas. To warm up the face you can also imagine a upside down letter 'C' and sweep bronzing powder from one temple upwards and along the hairline downwards towards the other temple.  

If you are very light skinned, try the Body Shop Bronzing compact in color 'Light'. For medium to darker skins MAC bronzing compact in 'Refined Golden' or my favorite, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in 'Bronze' which will also help in highlighting!

Long weekend on the farm

What a relaxing weekend we had. Luckily I took some pictures, because all I can remember of the weekend is food! 

Friday:

Baked(tried at least) some Red Velvet flop cakes. The farmer had two and decided after the third one that they were a complete flop. They collapsed just after I took them out of the oven...The rest was given to the family who works on the farm and Miem told me later that the children loved them! 

A visit to the neighbour who was busy milking...yes wait for it...a goat!!!! This was a first for me, so I had to snap away. They are going to make goat's cheese. Had a taste of some, and it's not bad, but still prefer cheddar!

Saturday:

FarmGirl had a bit of "Mall fever" so we set off to George. All the old favourites I have missed so much! Edgars, Woolworths, Sunglass Hut, Jeep and and and...

An awful picture but I was busy driving and had to take the picture to MMS to a friend.

FarmGirl is a huge Jeep fan.

Sunday:

Spent some time with Dora. The farmer bought her for me as a birthday present in March. She is still very young and busy learning, so I have have not yet been on her back...

Who am I? - Heritage Day post

When Fable Fairy suggested this group post in honour of Heritage day, my mind went flying. My mom got a call, as well as an interview. She remembered stuff that was way too long ago for me to remember!

Who were you when you grew up, what did you wear, play with and where do you come from?

It started on 18 March 1976. First child to two "hippies". Mother wanted a daughter to dress up and father wanted a son to help mow the lawn. Well Pa won. I loved helping my father in the garden and rummaging through the garage. Preferred playing with cars, balls and slept with my plastic scooter. A real tomboy...

What did you dress me in Ma?
Ma: I loved dressing you up in frilly, girly dresses, pink skirts with white tops and pull-over jerseys. Your hair was done in a different style twice a day. Pigtails, pony at the back etc. You loved your corduroy pants, jeans, takkies and polo necks! Three years later the terror came, that is my younger brother, and my single child bliss was forever gone.

Still have two of the dresses and a pair of shoes.

I remember:

What was my favourite toy Ma?

Ma: You loved your Rosie doll! After that it was your very first Barbie. Do you remember the hiding you got when you cut off all her hair? You also loved anything with wheels. Your favourite was your yellow scooter.

I remember:

Loved playing with my brother's Dinky Toys. He also had this awesome electric car set with  race tracks and remotes the works - loved that too! Riding a bicycle was also top of the list. My father also built us swings with one rubber swing and one wooden bench and spent a lot of time on those!

Give something back

Before starting with this very sad post, I want to say a huge thank you to Glossary Girl! Just won an awesome beauty hamper on her blog!

Now, I firmly believe that if you get, you must give back. A friend of mine just sent me this very sad email. At first I thought it may be a hoax, so I phoned the SPCA and the story is very true. The SPCA in Brakpan went to their local  rubbish dump to feed some stray dogs and instead found three children under the age of ten years left there to fend for themselves. Their parents are drug addicts and apparently the children were in the way of their daily fix.

I seriously cannot believe that parents can do this. There are people out there who are dying to have a child but can't and these mongrels just left their children on a rubbish dump! The lady at the SPCA informed me that the children are now safe and in foster care, but are in need of clothes, toys etc.

My Gran would have loved this!

Every single magazine I open has an article about the newest fashion trend: My Gran's doilie! Meaning CROCHET!  It went from covering your sugar pot  to being the fashion accessory of the month! Top designers like Issey Miyake, Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel have brought out crochet leggings, bags and even lingerie.

Now I must be honest, I am not a huge crochet fan, but while typing this I remembered about an ancient top in my closet that I never had the heart to part with. This must mean that there is some type of fashionista hiding in me...

My very own personal library

Today has been a very unproductive travel agent day. Not so for the dreamer in me. Thought I'd share my ideas on what my own personal library would look like(if money was not a factor of course)
