Born Wild

About a week ago I finished the book, Born Wild by Tony Fitzjohn. It tells the story of how he travelled to South Africa, hitchhiked to Kenya, and ended up at George Adamson's camp at Kora.

Remember George Adamson and his wife Joy? They hand reared a lion cub named Elsa who became the first lioness to be successfully released back into the wild. Joy later wrote the book Born Free which was made into the hit movie with the same name.

Tony also had the privilege to meet and work with Christian the lion. Christian is THAT lion cub that was bought at Harrods and later became to big for the owners apartment. He was sent to George and Tony to be introduced back into the wild. One year later, the two decided to go and say hi to Christian. George warned them that Christian might not remember them... I can watch this video a million times!
