Today... Yesterday and whenever!

... I think it was about 40 degrees.
... Our neighbour caught a boom slang with his bare hands!
... the farmer had to manually pull a calf from a cow. Poor bugger was too big. Did not make it.
... There's a circus in town. Went to look at the lions. Not nice.
... We have a new puppy in the house.
... We also have a baby guinea fowl *sigh*
... oja. My brand new Blackberry needs to be replaced. *sigh some more*

The above all happened in the last week, thank goodness, not just today!

You can see the hooves. Poor calf!

I survived a Muscovy duck attack!

As in dead serious.

The above madam, had her babies, also featured in the photo, about a month and a half ago. The cuteness. The first month, she stayed clear from the house. But, as time passed, she came closer and taught her babies to eat the discarded dog pellets. So, the other day, I come home from town, and madam and her 12 babies are walking in Boerboel territory, right next to the house. So, being concerned, I walk closer to shoo them away. I won't be able to look if a dog grabs one of them. The babies are small enough, and all of them pop through the fence. Mother obviously can't get through, panics, gives a hiss and turns on me! She flaps her mighty wings, takes flight, and flaps straight at me. I nearly had a heart attack. Start running up the hill towards the house. Still screaming. Mother is hot on my heals. Hissing. Pecking. Hissing. I find a dry branch of a tree. Try to scare her off. It does not help, she is still coming. I run. I scream.

This went on for about 5 minutes, which felt like an hour, until she was satisfied that I was far enough away from her babies.

We have made peace, but trust me, I will not try and help her again.

What a year!

Starting this post with a "sorry"! I have not been on Blogger for a while, so no posts and even no reading of my favourite blogs. It has been hectic since the birth of Katryn's litter. Not only with the pups, but the tourism business has been booming and I have not had a chance to move.

It has also been unbearably hot the last couple of weeks and I have been moaning for a swimming pool. Actually, I have been moaning for one since forever... I think the farmer has had enough and I finally got my pool!

Still need to fill up with water.

The farmer loving his cool idea!
And in other news, this is Bliksem, chewing on a hoof ------>

Hopefully back in full swing in the new year!

See you all in 2013 and keep safe.

Today...

... I am feeling tired, old, ugly, fat and tired!
... is the 90th day of my quit smoking campaign
... WAIT!!! I AM f&^*$# FAT. No jokes. I picked up a random 5kg since I quit the cancer sticks. I had to ask the doctor for help and I am now on Duromine, an Appetite Control Capsule.
... suffering from BAD insomnia because of above capsule, but  rather tired than fat hey...
... I made target. Whoop! And still another 5 working days left.
... Katryn's puppies started eating last night and it went quite well. They attacked the bowl.

Have a fabulous weekend!
